Terms of Service

Scrolar · Effective 9 June 2026 · Last updated 27 June 2026

These Terms govern your use of the Scrolar iPhone app ("Scrolar", "the app"). By using the app you agree to them. Apple's Standard End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app.

1. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Scrolar on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial study, subject to these Terms and the App Store Terms of Service.

You must be old enough to form a binding agreement in your country to use Scrolar. If you are a minor, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these Terms on your behalf and authorises any purchase.

2. Educational use — not professional advice

Scrolar's content is for general education only. Cards are concise, original summaries built from cited, openly-licensed or public-domain sources — drafted with the assistance of AI and reviewed before publication. They are not reproductions of the sources and may contain errors. While we aim for accuracy, content is provided for learning and is not professional, medical, financial, legal, or safety advice. Always consult the original sources (linked in the app) and qualified professionals for important decisions.

3. Sources and third-party content

Study cards are derived from third-party sources that are attributed in the app, each under its own license (for example public domain, CC BY 4.0, or other permissive licenses). Rights in those underlying materials remain with their respective owners. Our summaries and the app itself are owned by us or our licensors.

4. Scrolar Pro subscriptions

Scrolar offers an optional auto-renewable subscription, "Scrolar Pro."

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the app — including attempting to disrupt it, or copying, redistributing, or reverse-engineering it except to the extent permitted by law.

6. Intellectual property

The Scrolar name, app, design, and original text are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. Third-party source materials remain the property of their owners under their respective licenses.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

8. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for your mandatory rights as a consumer under applicable law, which are not affected by these Terms.

Subject to the paragraph above, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms; we'll revise the date above and, for material changes, note them in the app or its release notes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

10. Governing law, disputes & contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and do not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence. If you are an EU consumer and we cannot resolve a dispute directly, you may turn to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN, arn.se) or the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform (ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr). 11. Apple App Store terms

These Terms are between you and the operator of Scrolar, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation with respect to the app; any other claims, losses, liabilities, or costs attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are governed by these Terms and the App Store Terms of Service. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app (including product-liability, legal/regulatory, or consumer-protection claims). Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, and are not on any U.S. Government restricted-parties list.
